Robust metal construction, cable management, 2 coaxAug 08, 2009 I really like this surge protector. I bought several models from various vendors to compare, and I like this one the best. The construction feels sturdy--the case is mostly metal instead of plastic. The grooves in the side are not decorative--they are actually for adjusting the length of extra cable from the surge protector, so you have some flexibility without cord mess. The outlets are spaced nicely--you could plug-in 10 large "wall warts" if you wanted to. There's a variety of filters on the outlets for AV equipment, and 3 LED indicators show that protection is working, that the ground is wired properly, and whether there is a wiring error.
The only downside of this unit vs some of the competition is that there's only protection for 2 coax inputs, some of the other models out there have 3. For me, it makes no difference.
The other upside is the packaging--instead of the impossible-to-open plastic, this unit came in a cardboard box.

Great for home theater systems!Jun 30, 2009 This Belkin PureAV surge protector was designed specifically for home theater systems, with each labeled outlet isolated to reduce electrical interference/noise. The labels for individual components (subwoofer, receiver, TV, DVR, DVD player, etc.) correspond to the amount of current drawn for each and the delicacy of the equipment in the case of an electrical surge; fragile components get extra protection.
Although, not being an electrician, I cannot attest to the efficacy of Belkin's isolating technology, I can say that this surge protector does its job, since my attached equipment has already survived several electrical surges without incident. I like that the three-pronged outlets are labeled, if for no other reason than figuring out which plug is coming from where. As with most surge protectors, there's an on/off switch and indicator lights that show whether the protection is working, the last of which should be checked periodically as the product ages. It also has in/out coaxial connections.
I haven't noticed any inference from all the electronics I have attached, but then again, my last surge protector didn't display any, either. I recommend this primarily because it's a good value, with ten different outlets for just about everything that one would need to protect in a home theater system set-up.

More to a strip than JoulesOct 26, 2008 While this product has a very high joule rating, it also has something else, a filter that keeps your AC power clean. No, a little Windex just won't work here. AC power has waves in it that can produce squiggles and other disturbances on your new Plasma or LCD set. Your new TV is geared to show Hi-def images. That same quality means, that for the first time, you are also able to see these unpleasant artifacts in your AC current. This filter takes care of that at the right price! Belkin has been making computer products for years and I've found their products to be very reliable. Your new TV is a computer, so why not trust a company that has shown it understands them. Works great with my Samsung 50" plasma and Sony DVD s350. I have several Belkins in my home including the Belkin compact and a Surgemaster. I even have an old Belkin surge protector that survived having its plug underwater during Katrina! I'm sure they make a defective one now and then, but I have never had one quit.
