Over the years he had developed a veritable ritual. Before using them he would in fact number the pages, writing on the inside his name and at least two addresses across the world, and a message promising a reward for anyone finding and returning the notebook in case of it being lost. He even suggested this method to his friend Luis Sepulveda, when he gave him a precious moleskine as a present for a journey they were planning to undertake together in Patagonia. And there was no doubt as to how precious it was, given that at the time even the last moleskine manufacturer, a small family-run firm of Tours, had discontinued production in 1986. 'Le vrai moleskine n'est plus' was the short and curt statement of the owner of the stationery shop where Chatwin had ordered one hundred before leaving for Australia. Despite having literally swept up all the Moleskines he could find, they were not enough. Now, the moleskine is back again. This silent and discreet keeper of an extraordinary tradition, which has been missing for years, has set out again on its journey. A witness to contemporary nomadism, it can once again pass from one pocket to another to continue the adventure. The sequel still waits to be written and its blank pages are ready to tell the story. | | | Features: | |

MoleskineJul 29, 2010 I like this book and will order more as this one fills up. The history of it is fascinating. Just think I am using the same kind of book as the impressionist masters. Think it will help me be great???
Fantastic sketchbookApr 26, 2010
I love my moleskine sketchbook. The paper is wonderful for watercolor sketches. The size is just perfect I plan to take it with me on vacation this summer and it will be easy to pack with my pencils and paints. Really like the pocket in the back it will spoil me for ever using any other kind of sketchbook. I will be ordering more Moleskine books from Amazon.
Moleskin not skinFeb 25, 2010 This is exactly the product I was looking for. The paper takes multi media art product without curling pages. I do wish I had purchases larger books. Will follow up on that.
High quality watercolor paperFeb 14, 2010 This Moleskine watercolor notebook feels just right and looks painterly. It is the perfect size for taking along on a trip. I used it last week on a road trip to rural north Mississippi. I sketched in pencil as we rode along the roads..did a composite of flooded fields, old barns, cattle, blackbirds in flight etc. Watercolored the sketches that evening. The Moleskine watercolor paper received the moist paint very well. It did buckle a little when I did a watery, winter sky. It flattened out some and when the painting dried, I closed the book and wrapped the band around it to keep the pages flat. Worked well.

watercolour moleyNov 20, 2009 I'm on my fifth watercolour moleskine. While the format was hard to get used to - it's a little tricky to hold when it's so long opened out - I totally fell in love with it. the paper is smooth enough not to completely destroy your fineliner pens (though I do go through quite a few) but is great for both light and heavy watercolour washes. I fill them completely and never go anywhere without my moley. Some versions have tear-out pages, but you never know whether you'll get one of those or not, since they don't say on the outside. The last few I bought didn't, and that's ok.
