I wanted something for my new macbook pro not to protect from spills or dust, but just from wear and tear on the keyboards. I go through laptops about one per year, and every one I get, within two weeks or so, has some very shiny keys and spots on the space bars from the constant use, as I use them for both personal and business use. So I wanted something to preserve the keys from me.
It works, and for the most part is pretty easy to type through. It gives a strange feeling to typing, and your fingers stick a bit more, but other then my 15 character password (that I usually have to do two or three times now to get it right) I don't have any problems typing with this on it for normal use.
I got the blue thinking it would be more blue than it actually was, so now I wish I had gotten the clear, since this blue is just not a good look on the macbook pro's aluminum, too light and transparent, just makes it look weird. But the protection was the primary need, and it does that well.
The fit is a little off. The touchpad does not line up exactly, it sits a little too 'close' to the user, so the very top edge of the touchpad is covered. And it hangs over the edges a little on both sides as well as the front. It also seems to get a bit "bent" out of shape from torque of the palms during use, and mine seems to have stretched a little bit so that it won't quite sit flat anymore, even after washing it in warm water to try to get it to revert. But those are cosmetic issues, as they don't impact the performance at all.
This one is thicker than the other ones I looked at, so it did leave marks on the screen till I got my shaggymac to keep that from happening.
Overall, happy with the protection, just wish I had not gone with the color.
