3Fits great - except for power.Jul 29, 2010
This case is great and it looks great - it just has one problem. I have the 15" MacBook Pro (2010) and the power cord will only connect facing the user. This means that instead of connecting the power and stringing it around the back of the laptop to stay out of the way, you have to wrap it underneath or in front of it. The only other thing is that the rubbery outside tends to pick up dust easily and scratches on occasion (and I have only had it a few days) - but its better that this gets scratched and dusty than the MBP itself!

It was incredibly easy to put on and works great - and you can see the apple light straight through.

4nonslippery hardshell case for Mac Book Pro 15 inch UnibodyJul 20, 2010
After I purchased my MacBook Pro Aluminum Unibody, I noticed that, in contrast to my old white plastic MacBook (circa 2005 model) the new machine was very slick and I was afraid it would actually slide off my lap. I wanted a case that would protect it and at the same time be less slippery. The Satin soft touch case is just that. The coefficient of friction of its surface is sufficiently high that the computer no longer threatens to slip off my lap at any moment.
The shell was very simple to put on the computer and has stayed put, once I made sure that all the tiny plastic prongs (part of the shell, not separate pieces) that hold it on were in place. Initially one was not and the case was not tight.
Cosmetically it looks fine, but it does show fingerprints a lot, requiring that it be wiped fairly frequently (Speck includes a cloth with the case).
Overall I gave the appearance a 4 of 5 because of the fingerprints issue.
I've been using it for about a month now - daily - with no additional concerns.

This is a great product to protect your computer. Very glad I made this investment to protect my investment. Love the color purple as well.

5I Love My Speck Hard Shell CaseJul 16, 2010
When I received my Speck See Thru Satin, Soft Touch Hard Shell Case for my MacBook Pro I wasn't sure if I would like it. Don't get me wrong, it looked awesome! It was the perfect shade of red and it felt wonderful! I couldn't believe how soft it actually felt since it was a hard shell case. But I was worried that the top piece of the shell was not going to stay on. When looking at it, I wondered how in the world could it attach! There were no visible tabs or anything... it was not a very deep (or concave?) shell. But when I shut my laptop and laid the top shell on it, it took very little pressure for it to attach! Then I opened my lap top and could see that there are two, very small tabs on each side! It fits GREAT!
I couldn't be happier with this product. It not only protects my MacBook Pro, it personalizes it in a way. It doesn't look like every other MacBook out there! And I can take it off without any residue like you get with "skins". Check out the product link below. It is -by far- the best accessory I have purchased for my laptop!

2Looks nice and works ok, but will weaken the hinges of your Macbook screen!Jul 16, 2010
I bought this case about a year and a half ago, and was very happy with the purchase. The case was sleek, looked nice, fit well, and seemed to protect my Macbook from dreaded scratches and nicks. It required monthly cleaning in order to keep dirt and particles from becoming wedged in between the case and the Macbook, but that was a small price to pay. However, in the long run this case is NOT worth it.

After a year or so of use I noticed that my Macbook's screen had become wobbly and was no longer stable. When I pushed it back, there was about a half inch where you could pull the screen back up and it would just fall back down. While it doesn't necessarily affect the performance of the laptop, it is a nuisance and whenever I pick up my laptop when it is still open it wobbles back and forth and I feel like the screen will snap off any minute. I took it to the Apple store and they said that not only could they not simply tighten the hinges of the screen, but that if I wanted it fixed I would have to replace the entire screen for $700. The 3-year warranty I purchased apparently does not cover this because through "normal use", this wouldn't happen. Apparently "normal use" is defined as not using a case-apparently the Speck case added weight to the screen that it is not supposed to carry, this weakening the hinges.

Also, the case raises the temperature of the Macbook by a LOT. I'm not really sure of the exact numbers but I noticed that when I ran the Sims 3 (a very CPU-heavy program),the fan began to whir very loudly and clearly was running at max power to try and get all the excess heat out. However, once I removed the case the fan ran at medium power and was not nearly as loud, indicating that the temperature was not as high as before. With the case on the surface of the computer was hot enough to burn your hands!

But I digress. I'm not going to replace my entire screen for $700 even though the wobbliness is annoying. While this case looks and feels nice, I'd stick with some decorative decals (if you must have the personalization) and opt for a nice neoprene sleeve instead.
